How Carly Campbell Created June Diane Raphael’s Soft Hollywood Waves for the ‘Elle’ Premiere

07/06/2026

Career scene-stealer, the inimitable June Diane Raphael, who’s forever making every project she’s in better, has lent her magic to the “Legally Blonde” prequel series, “Elle,” and by the looks of the streaming numbers, it’s a hit. Another hit? Her looks on the “Elle” promo press tour, including her own stunning blonde hair, inspired by the iconic films and the show itself.

Take the premiere of the show in which Raphael wore a sparkling champagne colored gown and her hair set in sculpted waves. It was giving star. So much so that we got in touch with her hairstylist, Carly Campbell, for all the details.

Campbell tells us, “For June’s premiere look, we wanted classic Hollywood waves with a modern, softer finish. The goal was something timeless and glamorous, but not overly structured. We knew the weather was going to be hot and humid, so longevity was just as important as the overall aesthetic.”

She adds, “I always want the hair to enhance the person rather than steal the spotlight. June’s dress already had so much shimmer and elegance, so the hair was meant to echo that — soft, luminous, and effortlessly glamorous. We wanted it to look just as beautiful at the end of the night as it did when she stepped onto the carpet.”

Read on for the exact products Campbell used. Spoiler: if you don’t already work with Oribe products, you’re going to need to stock up.

Get the Look:

  • “To prep the hair, I applied Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse from roots to ends for hold and body. Around the crown, I layered Oribe Volumista Mist to create lift and volume at the roots, then worked a small amount of Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream through the ends to keep everything smooth and polished.
  • After blow-drying the hair, I added multiple rows of extensions. Because extensions hold a curl exceptionally well, they gave us extra insurance against the humidity while also adding fullness and creating a more consistent wave pattern throughout the style.
  • Once the extensions were in, I curled the entire head using a classic Hollywood wave technique. Instead of leaving the curls tightly defined, I brushed everything out to soften the shape, creating loose, luxurious waves with plenty of movement.”

She adds, “The style held beautifully throughout the entire evening — even on ‘Elle’s’ hot, humid pink carpet. Using the right prep products, adding extensions for support, and brushing the curls into softer waves created a look that stayed polished while still feeling natural and touchable.”
