On January 20th, many powerful figures came together to celebrate as Joe Biden was sworn into office at the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. For many, this day represents great change and a movement towards a better future. And with such an important event comes many important statements, which are often expressed through the guests’ fashion, hair and makeup choices.
The women at this year’s inauguration ranged from celebrities and musicians to political figures, all of whom used the event not only to support the transition of power, but to present iconic looks as well.
From shimmering shadows to nude lips, here’s how the women of the inauguration showed up and showed out.
Dr. Jill Biden
Dr. Jill Biden rocked thick eyeliner, gorgeous lashes and on-point eyebrows for the ceremony. The first lady’s skin was glowing as her husband was sworn into office, and her head-to-toe Markarian ensemble was everything. She was serving Cinderella chic, and we’re loving it!
Someone who never fails to slay a glam moment is Lady Gaga. The musician’s red lip, winged liner and thick, gorgeous brows were on full display during her performance of the national anthem. While it’s a tamer look for Gaga, it’s still a memorable one. And that’s all thanks to her longtime makeup artist Sarah Tanno.
The internet went wild for Michelle Obama’s look at the inauguration, and for good reason! With glam by makeup artist Carl Ray, the former first lady looked like a dream. Even with a mask on, her glam was still on-point with a smokey eye and long lashes that perfectly complimented her monochrome ‘fit.
Jennifer Lopez is always glowing, but her glam was especially elevated at the ceremony. Her shimmery shadow paired with all-white ensemble served serious ice queen vibes, and we’re so here for it! Thanks to makeup artist David Velasquez, this look may go down as one of JLo’s best.
Kamala Harris’ entire look is worthy of applause, but Marquia James’ glam work is a standout. The vice president’s makeup was classic and sophisticated, yet still youthful and full of radiance. Her rosy cheeks paired with nude lip and eye liner made the historic moment even better.
Last but certainly not least, Amanda Gorman definitely stole the show at the inauguration. In head-to-toe Prada, a shimmering eye shadow and gorgeous highlighter, the 22-year-old delivered a powerful poem and glam. Her entire look radiates confidence, and we’re obsessed!
