Many brands are refocusing their business efforts in major ways to help support the salon professional industry amid the COVID-19 crisis. Matrix, which is housed under L’Oréal, has begun providing digital education for hairstylists to keep their skills sharp while salons are shut down.
“This is an unprecedented time in the professional hairstylist community. As a professional products brand with so many of our customers and partners having to close the doors to their salons, our main focus is providing support and resources to our professional community,” the brand shared with The Tease.
First, Matrix has partnered with Biolage and Redken for the “Raise My Bar” digital education series. The series focuses on keeping the artist network connected, educated and informed. The live videos take place on either Alfredo Lewis’ (Global VP of Education) or Sheri Doss’ (VP of Education for L’Oreal) Instagram accounts.
Additionally, the Matrix education team is offering weekly live videos on award-winning artists’ individual social channels. Viewers are treated to a “Tech Tuesday” every week along with a “Sip and Learn” every Wednesday. The team is also producing various live Q&A’s and business-building classes throughout the week. Along with making world-class education widely available, Matrix has partnered with Hair.com to launch an affiliate program. The program allows pros to receive 20% commission from products purchased through their links.
Matrix is also donating to the PBA’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. And they’re supporting them in asking Congress to include salon and spa owners in the 45B FICA tax tip credit. The tip credit would help provide immediate funding to salons and stylists in need of financial assistance. Click here to learn more.
Through online mentorship and education, Matrix is ensuring that their customers, employees and artists are as safe and informed as possible. “Here at Matrix and Biolage, our top priority is the health and well-being of our stylists and customers. We know that this is a challenging time for salon owners, their employees, business partners and clientele,” says General Manager, Paul Schiraldi.
“The hairstylist community is such an important and special community. […] This is going to be a rough time, but we are confident that brighter days are ahead […]. In the interim, Matrix and Biolage are here to support professionals through digital education and mentorship.”
