While sustainability may be a pressing concern for a lot of hair brands now, Earthly Body — the eco-friendly parent company behind brands like Emera and CBD Daily— has been prioritizing the elimination of plastic waste and the use of clean ingredients way before it was ever cool. Since the very beginning, the family-owned company has dedicated itself to creating naturally-derived hair products (in a solar-powered facility, mind you!) that are not only good for your strands but also the environment.
Now, Earthly Body is doubling down on its green mission by giving one of their cult-favorite brands, Marrakesh, a sustainable facelift. As of this month, the brand has a whole new name—MKS eco, and a more eco-friendly look. In an effort to make their good-for-you hair products even better for the planet, all of their products now come housed in 100 percent recyclable materials like glass and aluminum to help reduce plastic waste.
Kevin Wachs, CEO and co-founder of Earthly Body, could be happier about this change.
“This August, we are so excited to rebrand Marrekesh to MKS eco—it is a salon and consumer favorite!” he said, in a statement. “This collection is, and has always been, clean and eco, using glass and aluminum packaging and only the finest ingredients for the hair and scalp.”
But, don’t let their new packaging fool you, MKS eco still offers the same award-winning hemp and argan oil enriched formulas that you know and love. Not to mention, just like all Earthly Body products, their line of products is entirely cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, vegan and free of artificial dyes.
Product formulations aside, MKS eco offers all the essentials needed to build out a fully clean hair routine. Their collection includes products like shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, hair masks, a volumizing spray, and sea salt spray, as well as curl creams and styling creams — all priced between $13.99 and $35.99. The best part? All of the incredible products are available in five delicious scents: Dreamsicle, High Tide, Light Breeze, Isle of You, and the original Marrakesh scent.
And as if you needed yet another reason to love the brand, as part of their commitment to the planet, MKS eco will be donating a percentage of every sale to the Get Together Foundation, a non-profit foundation created by Wachs and his wife that’s dedicated to bringing people together to fight homelessness in the greater Los Angeles area.
Beginning this month, MKS eco will be available for purchase on the Earthly Body website, Amazon, and at a number of fine spas, salons, and retailers. To learn even more about the brand, be sure to follow @earthlybody on Instagram.
