This year’s MTV Video Music Awards may have looked a little different, but that doesn’t mean lewks weren’t served. With a star-studded lineup, including Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion & more, the COVID-safe event saw incredible fashion, hair and glam. Although on the more subtle side, these eight stars gave us major makeup moments.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande brought playfulness to the show with her intense cat eye, nude lip and pigtails. Thanks to makeup artist Michael Anthony, the singer’s look was subtle, yet elegant. Grande took home four awards last night, including Song of the Year for Rain On Me” with Lady Gaga.

Joey King

Acting as presenter for the night, Joey King’s glam paired perfectly with her neon Versace ‘fit. Makeup artist Allan Avendaño crafted the glowy look with assistance from Ruby Vo, and products from Tom Ford, Armani and more.

Another musician making headlines during the show was The Weeknd. Special effects artist Mike Fontaine worked with Mike Marino prosthetics to mimic the musician’s look from his “Blinding Lights” video, which took home the award for Video of the Year.

Megan Thee Stallion

It’s no surprise that Megan Thee Stallion looked incredible at the award show. Similar to her glam for the WAP music video, the rapper actually did her own makeup for the night. We love a woman who can do it all!

Lady Gaga

Working with longtime makeup artist Sarah Tanno-Stewart, Mother Monster looked incredible in her subtle glam paired with face shield and futuristic ensemble. The singer took home four awards last night, including Artist of the Year.

Bella Hadid

Makeup artist Erin Parsons brought 90’s realness to Bella Hadid’s glam. The model’s intense eyeliner and barely-there brows paired with sheer shirt transported us back to nostalgic decade with just one glance.

Doja Cat

Not only did makeup artist Michael Anthony bring it with Ari’s glam, but he also gifted us this glowing pink look from Doja Cat. The “Say So” singer, who took home the award for Best New Artist, looked incredible in her head-to-toe pink ensemble.

Keke Palmer

Another attendee rocking 90’s glam was host for the night, Keke Palmer. Her subtle makeup and glowing skin had us swooning. The actress rocked many different looks throughout the night, and that’s thanks to makeup artist Mimi Kamara.
