“The Crown” Nailed Princess Diana’s Hairstyles & We Have The Photos to Prove It

11/21/2020

At long last, one of the most beloved members of the Royal Family—Princess Diana—has finally made her official debut on this season of Netflix’s royal drama The Crown. Set between the years 1979 to 1990, the highly-anticipated fourth season follows the late princess, who is portrayed by 24-year-old Pennyworth actress Emma Corrin, and her introduction to the monarchy as well as her rocky marriage to Prince Charles (played by Josh O’Connor). The season also gives special attention to Margaret Thatcher’s (portrayed by Gillian Anderson) reign as Prime Minister.

Much of the buzz surrounding the fourth installment’s premiere has been heavily focused on Corrin’s spot-on transformation into the “People’s Princess.” From the mannerisms, to the voice, and the impeccable styling, the actress nailed it all around with her depiction of Princess Di, who she bears a rather uncanny resemblance to.

Being the hair lovers that we are, it was a definite highlight being able to see Corrin wear some of Diana’s reimagined hair looks. Hair and makeup designer Cate Hall was tasked with the special challenge of bringing some of the royal’s most iconic hairstyles to the small screen. According to ET Online, Hall designed six precise “Diana-cut” wigs for Corrin to wear throughout the show —all of which were styled and colored to match key moments reimagined on-screen.

Below, see how some of the show’s recreations compare to Diana’s real-life hairstyles.
