Actor Kate Mara has just returned to her red hair color, and behind her new dimensional red is celebrity hairstylist and Schwarzkopf Professional’s U.S. Creative Director of Color & Technique Tracey Cunningham.
Known for aligning her hair color with different phases of her career, Mara turned once again to Cunningham for a look that, according to Cunningham, “blends Hollywood timelessness with a modern edge.”
The transformation marks a return to Mara’s signature red, but reimagined. In a post on her social media, Cunningham documented the process and wrote that the actress decided to get back to her usual go-to signature red after rounds of coloring her hair for work.
“I layered the tones to softly ease her back in—rich, dimensional, and so her,” Cunningham wrote.
Cunningham said the look was achieved over the course of three hours, using Schwarzkopf Professional’s Igora Vibrance, which is “her go-to alkaline gloss for shine and multi-dimensional brilliance.”
The process included rebuilding the base for richness and applying subtle lowlights for depth and longevity. Cunningham’s formulas’ results are a dimensional red with high-gloss depth — a look that reintroduces Mara’s iconic hue with refined warmth and modern luminosity.
