Why BAABS Beauty Is Changing the Clean Cosmetics Game With Necia Boston

10/16/2025

What happens when a self-proclaimed tomboy with skin sensitivities decides to disrupt the beauty industry? You get B.A.A.B.S. Beauty Bar, a clean, inclusive, and empowering beauty brand that started as a way to avoid preservatives and grew into a full cosmetic line for people who have felt overlooked by mainstream products. Necia Boston, founder of B.A.A.B.S. (Blessed and Anointed Beauty Services), joins Volume Up by The Tease to talk about her journey of being a beauty entrepreneur and how her personal struggles with allergens inspired an entire brand made for people similar to her.

Growing up, Boston was allergic to most topical products. But instead of backing away from beauty, she got curious. After struggling to find makeup that didn’t trigger a reaction, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She discovered that even tiny amounts of preservatives, often not listed on packaging due to their low percentages, were the cause of her allergies. That realization led to the launch of her own line, which has since grown from simple lip glosses to a full range of foundations, concealers, and more.

“I just wanted to know what was in it,” she says. “Everyone’s skin is different, and that’s okay.”

Raised in a military family, Boston lived in places like Florida, Japan, and North Carolina, giving her early exposure to diverse cultures and skincare routines. That background made her more aware of the different types of products used around the world and the importance of catering to all skin types, tones, and sensitivities.

Boston calls lip products the gateway drug of beauty. Most of her customers start with a nude gloss, and by the end of the year, they’re rocking full glam. It’s that slow, confidence-building journey that B.A.A.B.S. Beauty is built to support. From that very first swipe of color, customers feel seen, safe, and empowered to explore more without the fear of reactions or irritation.

Preservatives and allergens are the biggest challenges in cosmetic formulation, but B.A.A.B.S. takes them head-on! Every product is created with intentionally high-quality ingredients and ingredient transparency. From foundations to glosses, Boston ensures customers always know what they’re putting on their skin because she’s been there before.

With a beauty bar location in Greenville, NC, B.A.A.B.S. Beauty isn’t planning on slowing down anytime soon. Boston plans to expand to additional locations and continue evolving the product line to meet all the needs of the beauty community. Her mission is clear: to make B.A.A.B.S. the go-to destination for safe, effective, and beautiful products.
