3 Hair Trends to Look Out for This Summer, According to Colorist Carly Zanoni

07/20/2022

As the summer continues to heat up, you might be feeling the need to make a big hair switch-up. With even warmer days ahead, there truly isn’t a better time to experiment with a fresh cut, some new highlights, or a new-to-you hairstyle.

“Summer always makes people a little more adventurous with their hair! I think plenty of people will step out of their box and try something new this season!” says colorist Carly Zanoni. “Whether it’s something simple like a new style or something bigger like a new color, summer is the perfect time to debut your new look!”

To get an idea of what’s trending for summer 2022, The Tease turned to Zanoni for an inside look of some of the colors and styles to watch out for. Ahead, three hair trends that need to be on your radar this summer.

Natural Color

According to Zanoni, soft, natural-looking color has been highly requested this summer. “Mega contrast and big money pieces are out and a soft, blended mini pop of color is in!” she says. The key to mastering this look is using subtle highlights to elevate what you already have and put a spotlight on your natural hair color. And, when it comes to keep your color looking fresh, Zanoni recommends using Schwarzkopf BlondMe All Blondes Rich Shampoo ($23.00) and Conditioner ($25.00).

‘90s Blowout

Bouncy, ‘90s blowouts are having a moment yet again this season. “People are ditching their textured, beachy waves and are opting for a sexy blowout,” Zanoni shares. This time around the classic blow-dry is heavy on the body and bounce, resulting in mega voluminous bombshell-worthy curls.

Low Maintenance Styles

“This summer, I think we’ll see easy, casual styles that work seamlessly transitioning from daytime errands to a night out.” Zanoni says, “I’m predicting claw clips for an easy, out-the-door style in no time and middle-parted hair that’s slicked back into a low bun. Both take only minutes to create and are suitable for any occasion.” To prep your hair before you style, she recommends using the Schwarzkopf All Blondes Light Spray Conditioner ($24.00). “It protects the bonds while detangling and softening.”
