If you thought Ciara Miller’s sculpted “Summer House” reunion look was giving 80s hair, you’re right. Her hairstylist, Dhairius Thomas, had the 80s series “Dynasty,” on his mood board.
Thomas tells The Tease, “For Ciara Miller’s bombshell hair at the ‘Summer House’ reunion, we knew we had to go big or go home. I was inspired by Diahann Carroll in ‘Dynasty,’ a glamorous Black woman with style and grace.” Carroll, like her on-screen persona, Dominique Devereaux, was fierce, and she famously broke barriers as the first prominently-featured Black character on a prime time soap opera. Miller, is, of course, one of the shamefully few Black cast members on a purportedly racially-integrated Bravo show. The parallels may not be immediately obvious but they’re worth noting.
Acknowledging the drama surrounding this last season, Thomas adds, “And nothing screams revenge more than red.” Hair never really is just hair.

Get the Look:
- “I started by coloring a custom unit from True Hair Company to Ciara’s desired Color. I used SoftSheen-Carson Hi Rez box color in the shade ‘Ruby Quake.’
- While the hair was still damp, I went in with Cécred’s Volumizing Mousse, along with the Thermal Shield Mist to create the height in the hair.
- After the blowdry was finished, I proceeded to curl the hair using T3 BodyWaver 1.75” Styling Iron. For this particular style is it important to curl on-base, while pinning all curls toward the crown of the head. Let the curls set for 15 minutes.
- The next step is the most important. I brushed Ciara’s hair out using a Mason Pearson brush and spraying R+Co’s OUTER SPACE Flexible Hairspray simultaneously. But the key is that the head must be tilted back while being brushed out — to make sure the hair stays sculpted.
- After achieving the desired shape, we then lifted up to finish, styling with Cécred’s Rake Comb and R+Co’s VICIOUS Strong Hold Hairspray.”
