7 Women-Owned Indie Hair Brands to Support Now and Always

03/23/2021

While celebrating women and their contributions shouldn’t be confined to just one month, with March being Women’s History Month, we’re using the call for celebration as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on some incredible female-founded hair brands.

If you’ve been looking for a simple way to show your support this month, it wouldn’t hurt to consider shopping from an awesome woman-owned business, particularly one that is not as well-known.

While you may be familiar with the household names that frequently grace the hair aisles of your local Ulta, Target, and Sephora, it’s so important to remember that the up-and-coming hair brands deserve your love (and your money), too!

To help you out, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite under-the-radar women-owned hair brands to support this month and always.

Captain Blankenship

Always dreamed of a mermaid-esque mane? Captain Blankenship founder Jana Blankenship is making that fantasy a reality with her line of clean hair care products that are good for your hair and the environment. Formulated with organic ingredients such as flowers, seaweed, plant oils, and sea salt, this hair brand is your ticket to beautiful beach-y waves. With its charming sea-inspired product names and nautical-inspired packaging (that’s also recyclable!), don’t be surprised if their products quickly become some of your hair care faves!

Crown Affair

Rooted in ritual and routine, Crown Affair is a new kind of hair care, for those seeking clean ingredients, beautiful handmade tools, and powerful formulations. It’s no wonder that even actress Emma Watson counts herself as a fan of the brand.
