Clariss Rubenstein Shares How to Get Leighton Meester’s ‘Modern Romantic’ Golden Globes Updo

01/12/2026

Updos were definitely having a moment at the 2026 Golden Globes, and one of our favorites was Leighton Meester’s by celebrity hairstylist, and frequent collaborator, Clariss Rubenstein. There was structure, but also softness that landed beautifully on the red carpet.

Rubenstein tells The Tease, “The finished look was a modern romantic updo — polished but relaxed, and the ideal counterpoint to the gown’s bold glamour.” She used tools entirely from BondiBoost to create the look and generously shared exactly how she did it with us below.

Get the Look:

  1. “I began on damp hair, using the BondiBoost Everlast Airstyler to rough-dry and build natural volume right from the start.
  2. Once the hair had some lift and movement, I smoothed and refined it with the Infrared Thermal Bounce Brush to add polish without losing softness. To finish the prep, I went in with the Airburst Styler, curling just the ends for a subtle, romantic bend.
  3. Next, I divided the hair into two sections—ears up and ears down—and gently raked each into its own ponytail. Each ponytail was twisted into a soft knot, leaving out wispy, undone pieces for that perfectly imperfect feel, then secured with French hairpins for a clean yet effortless finish.”
