Witchy premiere hair took a more literal turn for actress Maisie Williams last night, courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Clayton Hawkins. For the Los Angeles “Practical Magic 2” premiere, Hawkins built the look around “Protection Plaits” — two braid witches have historically been used as an energetic shield — resulting in something strong and unmistakably on-theme.
“For Maisie Williams’ ‘Practical Magic’ premiere look, we wanted something strong, powerful, and obviously a little witchy. I was reading about ‘Protection Plaits’ which are 2 braids that witches use as an energetic shield and thought, okay! Let’s do that,” Hawkins explains.

- “I started by spraying her damp hair with my fav Raw Sugar Multi Miracle Leave in Conditioner and Heat Protector and then blew her out with the ion Luxe Turbosonic Hair Dryer.”

Hawkins: Kind of offended you have to ask. I’m obviously Gillian. I’m impulsive and messy and like to have fun!

Hawkins: I’m wildly intuitive and an expert manifester.

Hawkins: I once did a bubble pony moment where all the elastics snapped on the carpet. And it was on my birthday and finally someone had to take my phone away at the birthday dinner cuz I wouldn’t stop refreshing Getty images and screaming.
