Classic Hollywood glamour got a modern rewrite at the Academy Museum Gala, and it started with a short, dark pixie. Influencer and content creator Emma Chamberlain walked the Academy Museum Gala at Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles red carpet in Los Angeles with a look full of movement, shine, and tiny, directional curls — styled by frequent collaborator and celebrity hairstylist Sami Knight using Bumble and bumble.
“For today’s look on Emma, we wanted to give a nod to classic Hollywood glamour, but with a modern edge. Her short, dark pixie was the perfect canvas for it,” Knight shares. Get the Look:
- “To start, I prepped Emma’s hair with Bb.Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer to add softness, shine, and heat protection. I then worked four pumps of Bb.Thickening High Drama Styling Hair Foam through the hair. I love this product because it not only adds volume, but also helps coax out and enhance Emma’s natural texture.
- Once the hair was prepped, I combed it into the shape I wanted and used a diffuser on my blow dryer to slowly dry and set everything into place. From there, I went in with the tiniest flat iron, twisting and curling small sections throughout her hair in different directions to create movement and dimension.
- I broke up the curls with a couple of drops of Bb.Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil, which gave the hair the most amazing shine and separation. Then, I used just a dab of Bb.Semisumo Hi-Shine Pomade to refine the ends and bring some definition back into the curls while maintaining that effortless, lived-in texture.
- To finish, I added a light veil of Bb.Strong Finish Firm Hold Hairspray to lock everything into place and make sure the look lasted all night.”
