How to Recreate Ellen Devine’s Maleficent-Inspired Horn-Forward Halloween Hairstyle

10/19/2026

Halloween 2026 is frighteningly close so if you need some hair inspo, Ellen Devine, Sam Villa ArTeam member and Master Stylist at Reverie Beauty Co., has some for you. Devine was inspired by Sleeping Beauty’s own iconic baddie, Maleficent, adding her own twist.

For Devine, the look was all about creating structure and drama with hair horns. Keep reading for the exact steps she took, plus products she used, to get it.

Get the Look:

  1. “Create a section a few inches above the ear, leaving some hair out to frame the face, and secure a small ponytail.  Repeat on the other side of the head.
  2. Using a Sam Villa TEXTUR Professional Texturizing Iron, crimp down the ponytails to expand volume. This will give enough grip to build the shape.
  3. Backcomb each ponytail heavily and spray with hairspray.
  4. Place pointer finger pointing down and towards the head and start wrapping the ponytail tightly. After it is completely wrapped, use fingers to pull up the middle portion to create a point – the entire shape will resemble a horn. If hair is not long enough, use clip-in extensions or secure a weft with bobby pins.
  5. Anchor the base of the horn with bobby pins/hairpins and continue to fluff and shape the horn with hairspray, making sure to heavily spray the final shape for longevity.”
