Wimbledon’s most recognizable unofficial icon made his return to Centre Court this past weekend. Chris Fava — better known as “Strawberry Man” — revived his iconic strawberry costume after a seven-year hiatus, marking the look’s 10-year anniversary with a 2026 refresh: elevated styling, subtle sparkle, and a bold new hair transformation.

The transformation was created by Jamie Anderbery, Director of Education Content at John Paul Mitchell Systems. Anderbery began by prepping Fava’s hair by lightening with Paul Mitchell Pre-Bonded Lightener, then colored to posh perfection using custom shades of Paul Mitchell Colorways in vibrant green with a hint of blue. To finish, the look was styled with Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Sculpting Foam, Extra-Body Root Boost, Firm Hold Dry Wax, and a finishing touch of Texturizing Spray for lived-in texture and lasting hold.

“How often do you get asked to turn someone into a giant strawberry? That’s the kind of creative challenge every colorist secretly loves. We used Paul Mitchell Professional’s Pre-Bonded Lightener to create a bright, clean canvas, then brought the look to life with Colorways Green with a hint of Colorways Blue for added depth. Seeing the transformation from start to finish was so much fun, and it’s a great reminder that hair color can be technical, artistic, and a little bit playful all at the same time,” Anderbery shares.

The costume — one of Wimbledon’s most beloved internet moments — has become a fan tradition in its own right, and this year’s comeback brings a decade of evolution full circle with a signature strawberry “crown” that’s already turning heads.
