Cardi B is officially adding a new role to her resume: haircare brand founder!
The rapper took to Instagram on Monday to announce that she’s coming out with her very own hair line — and it’s Baby Kulture approved.
“This year I will be coming out with a hairline that I been working on at home for my hair and my daughters however, I think is time for people to educate themselves on nationality, race, and ethnicity,” she captioned a post.
The star also revealed that she was inspired to enter the hair business so that she could educate people on Afro-Latina hair. Cardi opened up about the constant criticism that she has received on social media regarding the length of her hair, sharing an array of tweets, comments, and pictures of her natural hair on Instagram.
“Being Hispanic/Latina don’t make your hair long, don’t make your skin light or don’t make your face features slim specially Latin countries from the Caribbean islands,” she wrote. “Dna have something to do with your hair not your nationality but guess what you can always maintain your hair …. and one more things not everyone that speaks Spanish is Mexican.”
Back in 2019, Cardi teased that she might be launching her own beauty line. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the rapper was asked if she had a beauty line coming soon to which laughed and said “very”. While her focus has now switched to hair, we’re glad to see that two years later, she’s following through on those plans.
When it comes to her hair, Cardi has always been open about sharing her haircare secrets with the masses. Just last year, the star took to Instagram to reveal her go-to DIY hair mask that she uses on herself as well as her daughter, Kulture. Featuring just six ingredients —avocado, mayonnaise, eggs, honey, black castor oil, and a banana — her mask is perfect for strengthening natural hair and combating frizz.
