Fable & Mane’s HoliRoots Hair Oil Will Convince You to Add Hair Oiling to Your Routine

11/03/2020

As someone with tightly coiled 4-C textured hair, a good oil is an essential part of my hair-care routine. To me, they’re legit game-changers thanks to their ability to serve so many different purposes. You can leave them on overnight for a pre-wash treatment. You can use them to lock in moisture in your hair, repair damaged ends, stimulate hair growth, or even add a healthy dose of shine to your locks.

But truth be told, a hair oil can work miracles on any hair type and texture, not just curls and coils. The key is finding one that meets your specific hair needs. Thankfully, there are plenty of different types of hair oils on the market that come in a wide variety of price points.

Though, if you’re like me, you want your hair products to leave your hair looking good and smelling good, too. Enter: Fable & Mane’s HoliRoots Hair Oil. This lightweight oil was inspired by the ancient Indian tradition of hair oiling, a practice that involves massaging the scalp, often before shampooing. The founders of Fable & Mane — siblings Akash Mehta and Nikita Mehta — created their line of products to bring their beloved Indian hair rituals to the mainstream and so far, their HoliRoots Hair Oil has rather quickly become the brand’s “hero” product.

This pre-wash treatment contains a powerful blend of strengthening ashwagandha, healing dashmool, and nourishing castor oil. Both ashwagandha and dashmool are two ingredients that are frequently used in Indian home hair remedies. Dashmool, often referred to as “the ten roots” is a blend of 10 that act as “the ultimate remedy for thick hair,” according to the brand’s website. Ashwagandha, on the other hand, is a precious oil that supports natural scalp circulation and promotes hair regeneration. All of these natural ingredients work together to keep your hair nourished and strong from root to tip.

Given that scalp massages are integral part of the hair oiling tradition, whenever I’m applying the oil, I do my best to incorporate the practice into my hair routine. To start, I part my dry hair into four quadrants to ensure that the oil will be able to penetrate my scalp. Using the dropper, I apply a generous amount of oil in my palms, rubbing my hands together to heat up the oil.

Next, I massage the oils into my scalp, making sure not to just saturate my strands but my skin as well. I do this for about five minutes and by the end of it, I just feel so relaxed, thanks to the oil’s luxurious perfume fragrance. As I mentioned earlier, I have thick curly hair so I love to leave the oil on overnight to really soak into my hair and scalp. The following day, I simply rinse the treatment out, following up with my favorite shampoo and conditioner.

Before, I was very much set in my coconut and argan oil ways. However, after using this pre-washing treatment for a couple of weeks now, I’m happy to report that my mind has been changed. Fable & Mane’s HoliRoots oil just leaves my hair feeling so soft. The best part is that with this hair oil, just a few drops go a long way in making your strands feel healthy and smell divine. But hey, don’t just take my word for it. Currently, the brand’s hair treatment boasts a hundred five-star reviews and over 20,000 “hearts” from shoppers on Sephora’s website. This is one product you’ll want to add to your hair routine ASAP!
