Get Golden Globes Winner Ali Wong’s Slicked-Back Bun with These Steps from Clayton Hawkins

01/08/2024

Ali Wong made history at last night’s Golden Globes, becoming the first actress of Asian descent to win Best Female Actor – Limited Series, Anthology Series or Television Motion Picture. “The Beef” actress and comedian wore her signature oversize metal frames and her hair in a gorgeous, slicked-back bun care of celebrity hairstylist Clayton Hawkins.

The Tease connected with Hawkins on the inspo as well as the ghd tools he used, including the just-launched ghd chronos styler, and steps he took to create the style. Keep scrolling for more!

“We wanted to compliment her beautiful Dior gown with a simple and elegant low bun.” Hawkins continued, “The Santa Anas are in full effect right now in Los Angeles, so we wanted something wind-proof for such a big night. When doing a simple hairstyle, it’s ALL about the details.”

Get the Look:

  1.  Start by applying a few drops of a scalp serum to the crown of the head and volumizing mousse to mid shafts down before blowing out with ghd helios hair dryer until the hair is fully dry.
  2. Then, using the NEW ghd chronos styler to smooth the hair and make it super sleek with a slight bend on the ends, all with no extreme heat damage! Hawkins says, ”I’m obsessed with the shine that this iron gives. It’s next level!”
  3. Pin the hair back with a bungee and use dark velvet-pins to wrap the hair into a chic and clean low bun.
  4. Set the look with hairspray.
