Rapper and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion channeled vintage beauty at this year’s Met Gala. The star returned to the event after a three-year hiatus and her comeback was so worthwhile. She showed up to the red carpet in a sparkling silver gown and fur coat by Moschino and a stunning structured pony tail inspired by the timeless glamour of Josephine Baker.
A true statement on its own, her fiery red locks were embellished with a line of jewels that added to the boldness of her look. Her hairstyle, which was styled by celebrity hairstylist Kellon Deryck, was meticulously crafted using T3‘s Singlepass Curl X 1″ curling iron. Ahead,The Tease got all the details from Deryck on how he created the intricate, show-stopping hair look:
Get the Look:
- Several days ahead of the gala, Deryck constructed custom large donut hair buns, covering each with human hair colored to match Megan’s.
- On the day of the event, Deryck stacked the covered buns on top of each other, securing them tightly with pins to create height and drama.
- The top section of Megan’s hair was left loose and curled using the T3 Singlepass Curl X 1” iron ($149.99), to give a polished, defined finish.
- After curling, Kellon brushed the curls into soft, glamorous waves, a nod to Josephine Baker’s signature style.
- Finally, crystal embellishments were affixed up the front of her hairline for extra dimension and drama. The look was set with a strong-hold finishing spray to last all night.
