When it comes to serving eye-catching hair looks at award shows, Miley Cyrus certainly reigns as queen. I mean, who could ever forget the larger-than-life Barberella-inspired hair that she rocked at the 2024 Grammy Awards?
Now a year later, she managed to wow us all yet again with the debut of her new Hime haircut at the 2025 Grammys [Editor’s Note: The Tease previously reported that Miley Cyrus debuted a “jellyfish” haircut, when in actuality the style is a “Hime cut,” which is also referred to as a “princess cut.” (Hime means princess in Japanese.)] Cyrus, who who took home the award for the Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Beyoncé for their song II Most Wanted, showed up on the red carpet sporting ultra-straight blonde highlighted strands that were cut into two distinct disconnected layers—feathery bangs paired with blunt, face-framing side pieces that landed at her jaw and loose long locks that hugged her waist.
The hair mastermind behind her ultra-cool new hairstyle was none other than celebrity hairstylist Bob Recine, who shared that he was inspired to created a hair look that was the opposite of her styling for last year’s. Additionally, he hoped to showcase the beautiful length and shape of Cyrus’ new haircut as her straight look highlighted her hair’s natural length.
Lucky for us, we were able to get Recine to share the step-by-step details for how he styled Cyrus’ new Hime haircut—including what Nexxus Haircare products were key to bring her look to life. Keep scrolling for his breakdown.
Get the Look:
- Recine began by using a generous amount of NEXXUS Prep & Protect Heat Defense Spray ($17.99) on small sections of wet hair. Then section by section, he blow dried her hair with a flat Mason Pierson brush adding NEXXUS XXL Volume Medium Hold Hairspray ($17.99) to every dried section as I finished blow drying to give hair that lasting straight look.
- Once he finished blow drying, he always applies NEXXUS Epic Shine Anti-Humidity Spray ($17.99) to give hair a lustrous, healthy shine that makes hair soft and touchable.
- He finished the look by adding NEXXUS Repair & Nourish Ultra Lightwedight Hair Oil ($17.99) to give the hair that light, airy movement without the heaviness most products usually give.
