Here’s How Celebrity Hairstylist Renato Campora Styled Selena Gomez’s Retro Tucked Bob for the 2025 SAG Awards

02/24/2025

The way that Selena Gomez effortlessly pulls off Old Hollywood glamour needs to be studied.

Last night, the actress stunned on the 2025 SAG Awards red carpet looking reminiscent of a classic Old Hollywood starlet with her elegant bob and sculpted custom Celine gown. While Gomez, who took home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series along with her Only Murder in the Building cast members, always looks like the picture of perfection on award show carpets, her retro bob totally took our breath away.

For those wondering, her elegant tucked-under bob was the work of celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora, who used all Joico products to achieve the gorgeous look. Speaking about the inspiration behind Gomez’s hairstyle, Campora shared, “Tonight’s clean, soft shape is 1960s-inspired, but the additional tuck behind the ears adds a modern modern aspect to her look. The face is open and perfectly shaped by the style. Tonight, Selena’s silhouette was incredibly chic, so it was essential for her hair to reflect that same elegance.”

We were fortunate to get all the details from Campora on exactly how he styled Gomez’s ‘60s-inspired bob for the awards show. Keep scrolling for his step-by-step breakdown—including the key Joico products that he used.

Get the Look:

  1. To prepare Selena’s hair for the SAG Awards, Campora began by first washing and replenishing her hair with Joico Defy Damage Protective Shampoo ($25.00) and Conditioner ($26.00). Then, he applied Defy Damage KBOND20 Power Masque ($39.00) from the mid-lenghts to the ends, leaving it on for three minutes before rinsing it with tepid/cold water.
  2. Next, on towel-dried hair, he created a clean middle part and applied Joico Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Creme ($26.50) throughout, combing it through for even distribution.
  3. After that, he applied Joico JoiWhip Firm Hold Design Foam ($22.50) to the roots and spritzed Joico Heat Hero ($24.00) on each two-inch section blow-drying with a large round brush.
  4. Once the hair was bouncy and full of volume, he sectioned it again into two-inch parts, curled each section with a 1.25-inch curling iron, and pinned the curls to cool.
  5. When all the sections were set, I sprayed Joico Humidity Blocker+ Protective Finishing Spray ($24.50) and brushed the hair inward for a 1960s-inspired look, tucking the front sections behind the ears.
  6. Finally, he finished the look with a mist of Joico Power Spray Fast-Dry Finishing Spray ($28.00) to lock in the style, ensuring long-lasting, healthy-looking, and shiny hair.
