Rose Byrne, who just took home a Golden Globe, debuted a new vibrant, dimensional brunette recently and we couldn’t be more obsessed.
Her new look was created by Redken artistic ambassador, Jacob Rozenberg using Redken’s newest hair color innovation, Shades ALK — a demi-permanent that offers the power of lasting color with the care of a gloss. This new no-ammonia, liquid-cream alkaline demi-permanent fills the gap between Redken’s world-renowned demi gloss, Shades EQ, and permanent color, offering stylists everywhere the power of lasting color with the care of a gloss.

Get the Formula:
To create Byrne’s rich, dimensional shade, Rozenberg began by formulating Redken Shades ALK at the root to establish a natural, seamless base.
- Root Formula:
- 20 gr 6G + 15gr 7NCH + 5gr 6CB
- 40 gr of 10 volume developer
Once the root was established, Rozenberg applied a customized all-over gloss to enhance warmth, depth, and shine throughout the hair.
- All-Over Gloss – First Application:
- 1/2 8GG + 1/4 9AA + 1/8 8GI + 1/8 9BR cap 8WG
To refine the tone and boost vibrancy, a second all-over gloss was applied.
- All-Over Gloss – Second Application:
- 2nd all over: 3/4 8GG + 1/4 8WG + 3ml Orange kicker
