Keeping Connected While Distanced

These are unprecedented times. And as I reflect on the last few months, I am feeling more gratitude than ever for our beauty industry. It brings so much joy to see what my fellow artists are doing during this time; keeping the energy and beauty alive amidst uncertainty and social distancing.

Quarantine has caused a shift in every aspect of my life. I went from spending 70% of my time traveling for industry events, photo shoots and collaborations with my ULTA Beauty and L’ANZA families to the last four months of staying home with my fiancé Jeff and our pets and converting my home into an office and gym.

Staying in one place has forced me to focus on ways to keep that irreplaceable energy of in-person interactions alive. The energy I get from my colleagues and fellow artists has always been my fuel. While I look forward to things going back to normal, I realize there will be a new “normal” for us to confine to. Still, I know we’ll find success if we remain adaptable, open-minded and positive as we face these new challenges.

I have been flexing new muscles in my creativity, staying agile and thinking outside the box to develop new ways we can all stay connected. I am lucky to work so closely with very talented individuals, especially my friend and leader at ULTA Beauty, Nick Stenson, SVP, Services and Trend.

Unveiling Beauty

As a services team at ULTA Beauty, we’ve been hard at work to do our part in uniting the beauty industry — professionals and consumers alike — through our new Facebook Live broadcast series “Unveiling Beauty”. Each episode features free beauty education and topics for hair, skin, makeup, brows and insights from industry leaders. Guests include ULTA Beauty Pro Team and Design Team members, ULTA Beauty Salon and Boutique leaders, as well as many industry icons. There is something for everyone!

In addition to “Unveiling Beauty,” I have been hard at work creating strategies with my ULTA Beauty and L’ANZA teams to determine how we’ll best serve our industry during our “new normal,” where virtual connections will be at an all-time high. I never thought I would be in this place, but I’m learning to embrace and make the most of everyday. Plus, my teams are there to help me keep moving forward.

So much has changed over the last several months, but the one truth that I hold dear everyday is that I have so much to be grateful for and believe that the future is what we make it. I will do everything in my power to support a positive future for the beauty industry. And I remain hopeful with each new day. Much love to all.
