Kylee Heath Breaks Down Kaitlyn Dever’s Effortless ’25 Emmys Updo

09/14/2025

“The Last of Us” star Kaitlyn Dever brought all of the sparkle to the 2025 Emmys red carpet in a custom sequined mini jacket by Michael Kors. Knowing how to enhance rather than detract from the obvious vibe, celebrity hairstylist Kylee Heath smartly pulled Dever’s hair up into an effortless bun, with just the right amount of edge.

We know that this style is about to inspire a lot of imitators, so we went directly to Heath for a breakdown. Read on to retrace her exact steps and the products she really used.

Get the Look:

  1. “On damp hair, I applied RŌZ Hair Milk through the ends and Root Spray at the roots. Using the Bondi Boost Airstyler and Bounce Round Brush, I round-brushed the hair straight — adding root volume while smoothing the cuticle with the Bondi Boost Infrared Thermal Brush. I directed the blow-dry back from the face and up at the nape for a clean base.
  2. With the Bondi Boost Flat Iron and Infrared Thermal Brush, I refined the hairline and smoothed each section back toward the ponytail.
  3. I clipped away the front and bottom sections, teased the crown for lift, and — while Kaitlyn tilted her head back (my go-to trick for catching every hair) — gathered everything into a sleek center-back ponytail. A touch of RŌZ Santa Lucia Oil added shine before securing.
  4. I looped and pinned small sections of the ponytail, teasing lightly and wrapping around the base. The final bun was chic and polished, but with an undone edge.”
