There’s a reason Liamani Segura’s hair at the “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland” premiere felt like it belonged in a storybook —the singer-actress and celebrity hairstylist Mariah Montes wanted it that way. Montes created soft, romantic curls that struck the perfect balance between polished and lived-in.
Keep reading for the exact steps Montes took, plus the products she used, to create Segura’s princess-coded curls.
The Prep
Montes started by lightly misting Liamani’s hair with water before applying Redken Beach Spray to build texture and grip. She blow-dried using the GHD Speed Ionic Hair Dryer to enhance the hair’s natural texture and add volume, then coated strands in Redken Thermal Spray for heat protection before any hot tools came into play.

The Process
“So for Liamani’s look she wanted her curls to look undone but polished at the same time,” Montes says. “So we really just created it as we went and tweaked the hairstyle along the way until we were happy with a side part that fell to the side in a soft undone romantic way.”
Working in clean sections, Montes curled the hair with the GHD Chronos Curve Curling Iron, alternating the direction of each curl for a more natural, effortless finish. Once the curls fully cooled, she sealed them with a light mist of Redken Brushable Hairspray, then brushed through with the La Bonne Brosse N.01 Large Brush — the boar bristles softening the curls into that romantic, airy texture without sacrificing movement or shine.

The Finish
To land the undone feel Liamani was after, Montes worked Redken Dry Texture Spray through the mid-lengths and ends, then finished with Redken Shine Flash Spray for a luminous, red-carpet-ready polish.
