The Tease: How has color fading historically shown up differently across colors, and what changed once you started developing R+Co BLEU with Chromatherapy Technology?
Garren: In all the years I’ve been doing hair, there has not been a color product that has this technology, and the reassurance that it will do what it says. Through 5 decades doing hair, hair color was always tricky – for redheads, brunettes and blondes alike, after the client left salon, their hair color would oxidize and change. Over the course of 4 weeks, each would fade, lose color and tone. Brunettes would get a reddish cast, blondes would turn paler and redheads would dull. Every week something would change in coloration! Since developing R+Co BLEU formulas with this technology, redheads are staying vibrant, blondes are brighter and shinier, and brunettes are holding their tone, and not turning brassy.
How do the three Primary Color products work together, and is there a recommended routine for someone with color-treated hair?
Garren: By using all three Primary Color products together, if you have color treated hair, you are really locking in color, and they change cuticle’s porosity, so it is even and sealed. You can also start with the Blonded Brightening Shampoo and Masque, and then use the Primary Color Ultra Protection Spray after it. The spray works beautifully with our other products as well.
A lot of people worry about overloading their hair with too many products. How do you talk to clients about layering the Primary Color Ultra Protection Spray with their styling routine?
Garren: I also love that I can use the Primary Color Ultra Protection Spray with all of my styling products after without compromising color or the style. You can layer it! It’s almost like putting astringent on skin after cleansing, then serum, moisturizer, makeup on top of it – that is how the spray works. That is how I talk to clients about it, so they’re not afraid they’re overloading their hair with too much conditioner, or too many products. The hair only grabs what it needs, and the product doesn’t just sit on the surface of the hair.
