Star of “I Love LA,” Rachel Sennott, just debuted her new bright blonde amid season 2 filming, and espres beauty Global Celeb Colorist & VP of Artist DVP and Paul Mitchell Pro Global Color Artist, Matt Rez, is behind it all.
Rez took Sennott from her usual tone to a soft, luminous level 8.5 — proof that a well-placed lift can feel like a full refresh without losing warmth or wearability.
“We wanted a big change leaning into warmth to be reflective on camera and complement her eyes and skin tone. That’s where I landed on a soft level 8.5. A refined neutral warm color with dimension and contrast that translates well in different lighting with neutral golden reflects. Glossing with the Demi Clear and Neutral Beige Flash Toner balanced and de-brassed all-in-one step, so the result is soft and reflective with a controlled warm glow,” Rez explains.

Below, Rez breaks down exactly how he created the look.

To lighten Rachel’s blonde while protecting stand integrity, Matt formulated:
- 30g Paul Mitchell Pro All Purpose Lightener
- 2 pumps epres Professional Bond Repair Treatment
- 45g Paul Mitchell 20 Volume Developer
To balance and de-brass the blonde, Matt glossed all over using:
- 3 oz Paul Mitchell Pro The Demi Clear
- 1 oz of the Paul Mitchell Pro The Demi Neutral Beige Flash Toner
- Mixed 1:1 with Paul Mitchell Processing Liquid
Then, process for 10 minutes. The Flash Toners do double duty — enhancing tone and neutralizing brass simultaneously — leaving Rachel’s blonde balanced and beautifully reflective, right in time for the new season.
