Mustafa Yanaz Brings Hair Hats to the Collina Strada SS26 NYFW Show

09/12/2025

Last season it was horns, this season it’s hats — hair hats. Editorial hairstylist and lead Mustafa Yanaz brought irreverence and drama to the Collina Strada ss26 runway show at NYFW, again!

Yanaz, working with Bumble and bumble., tells The Tease, “For this season, the hair was about playing with contrasts, and structure meeting spontaneity. We worked with two types of hair hats: crocheted beanies and classic baseball caps, each with their own distinct styling approach.” He added, “What made this collection special is how every look felt both crafted and raw at the same time. The Bumble and bumble products let me push each texture exactly where I wanted it, from rebellious volume to understated shine.”

Read on for more on how Yanaz actually created the hair hats, including the exact Bumble and bumble. products used.

The Crocheted Beanies

“For the beanies, I wanted the hair to feel light and playful, almost as if it carried static energy,” says Yanaz. “I prepped with Bb.Thickening Dryspun Texture Spray before crocheting, which gave strands an airy lift without heaviness, that flyaway, lived-in energy you get after a playground slide.”

The Classic Baseball Caps

“The baseball caps required more precision,” clarifies Yanaz. “I used Bb.Thickening Blow-Dry Prep Spray to prep the hair and shape the brim, clipping and spraying in layers to create sharp, lasting definition. Bb.Spray de Mode Flexible Hold Hairspray provided hold and flexibility, something you cannot achieve without a product like this.”

The Finishing Details

“For the hair underneath the hats, I drew inspiration from [Collina Strada creative director] Hillary’s signature style: grungy, undone, and effortlessly punk,” says Yanaz. He tells us that “the new Bb.Styling Oil was key. Layered heavily, it created weight and grit for a true grunge effect; used sparingly, it offered subtle shine and softness.”

No surprise, Yanaz used a staple product for the final touches, saying “I used Bb.Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer on the models with curls and on the ends of models with hair poking out of hats.”
