Olaplex Launched a Virtual Salon—Here’s What You Need to Know


Shopping for your favorite Olaplex products just got a whole lot cooler. The buzzy haircare brand behind all of your favorite bond-building treatments has announced the launch of its very own virtual salon. 

This new interactive virtual shopping experience grants consumers the unique opportunity to engage with the Olaplex brand in a serene and earthy environment. Within the salon, consumers can learn all things Olaplex, shop for their favorite products in 3D, and even win some awesome prizes. Not to mention, salon pros are offered an exclusive spot for a deeper dive into Olaplex education and resources.

At Olaplex’s virtual salon, there are two salon experiences. At the front of the salon, consumers are able to learn more about the brand, ask questions, and engage directly with Olaplex ambassadors and purchase Olaplex products. Back of house, there is a PRO “Breakroom”, which includes education experiences that are only offered to licensed professionals. Here, salon pros can access PRO-only materials and products as well as experience the brand in 3D before trying it in-salon in real life.

As soon as the step foot into the salon, guest can expect to be greeted by the brand’s virtual team member, Kai, who was created by taking the image and emotional qualities of over 240 Olaplex brand advocates and employees, which were then merged into a composite that is an accurate, bias-free visual representation of the entire team.

“To bring the AI image to life, it was overlaid onto a real person using visual effects and facial compositing to ultimately create a lifelike portrait,” explains Charlotte Watson, Chief Marketing Office of Olaplex. “Kai captures the hope and happiness of the Olaplex team while holding the same passion and excitement. Visitors can engage with Kai digitally to learn about Olaplex products and campaigns, as well as get answers to questions.

As they explore the store, guests are also invited to participate in a game that involves collecting six hidden Olaplex combs for a chance to win a prize. “The combs are strategically placed throughout the experience, inviting customers to explore educational moments, from videos to podcast snippets to taking our hair diagnostic where they can receive personalized recommendations,” says Watson.

“The Olaplex Virtual Salon is the closest thing we have to a physical location,” she adds, “meaning anyone, anywhere, can experience stepping into this Olaplex location together.
