Our Favorite Hairstyles from the 2021 Billboard Music Awards

05/24/2021

If there’s one thing we love about the Billboard Music Awards — besides the music, of course — it’s all the red carpet glam! Last night, a handful of our favorite stars donned their best looks (and hair!)  to come out and celebrate music’s greatest achievements. Nick Jonas served as host, Drake took home the Artist of the Decade award, and the likes of The Weekend, Pink, Alicia Keys, BTS, and Doja Cat & SZA dazzled us all with their show-stopping performances.

During the night, there was no shortage of must-see hair moments. From snatched ponies and braided updos to messy waves, celebs and their glam teams blessed us all with so many incredible hairstyles.

Here, see all of our favorite hairstyles from the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

SZA

SZA looked stunning as ever rocking pretty soft waves and an eye-catching blond streak that came courtesy of hairstylists Tevin Washington and Randy Stodghill.

Kehlani

For the big night, hairstylist Kahh Spence was set on creating a “pretty, sexy, and sultry blown-out look” for Kehlani. To create her gorgeous waves, he laid her hair using the Hot Tools Signature Series Detachable Volumizer.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas

Priyanka Chopra Jonas wowed us all with her waist-grazing sleek strands and middle part that hairstylist Bridget Brager styled for the night.

Chelsea Handler

All eyes were on Chelsea Handler and her loose waves that came courtesy of hairstylist Kylee Heath. For Handler’s look, Heath was inspired by a “sexy rock n’ roll vibe”. To create these waves, she started out by spraying Handler’s damp hair with a volumizing spray and brushing through using the Olivia Garden Carbosilk Comb. Next, after sectioning the hair, she used the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Hair Dryer and followed up the Olivia Garden ThermoVent Brush to smooth out the hair.

Once Handler’s hair was dry, Heath used the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Thermal Round Brush to add volume to her curtain bangs and the Olivia Garden Ceramic + Ion Flat Iron to add texture. After breaking up each strand with her fingers, Heath used a comb to tease through the hair and create extra volume. She finished off the look by using texture spray to ensure hold and tame any flyaways.

Gabrielle Union

We had major heart eyes over this seriously snatched ponytail that hairstylist Larry Sims created for Gabrielle Union. Just look at those flipped out ends!

Saweetie

Saweetie served up some major glam with her slicked-back pony that came courtesy of hairstylist Adrianne Michelle Knight.

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys slayed the red carpet with her braided updo and swirled baby hairs that were styled by hairstylist Kendall Dorsey. According to Dorsey, Keys’ award show hair paid homage to her “Alicia” album cover. The stylist shared that he wanted to create a simple yet elegant braided crown that was fit for a queen.

H.E.R

We are beyond obsessed with this next-level pony that Nina Monique created for H.E.R. From those side-swept bangs to those laid baby hairs, there is just so much to love.

Doja Cat

Hairstylist Jared Henderson (aka JStayReady) dreamed up a mesmerizing triple-braided ponytail look with sculpted baby hairs for Doja Cat that we can’t stop thinking about.

Megan Fox

Megan Fox’s signature dark locks were styled in gorgeous mermaid-esque waves thanks to hairstylist Derek Yuen.
