Last night, the biggest names in American fashion came together in New York City for the annual CFDA Awards, which is often considered to be the “Oscars of Fashion”. While the CFDA Awards is very much a fashion party that’s focused on celebrating the industry’s best, brightest, and most forward-thinking talents, its red carpet always tends to inspire the most sensational hair looks.
Maybe it’s the nature of the event, but the models, celebrities, and designers in attendance never fail to impress when it comes to showcasing truly eye-catching and innovative hairstyles. That was certainly the case with this year’s event. From sculptural updos to slicked-back manes and dreamy braided looks , the hair on the red carpet was a feast for the eyes.
Ahead, see which hairstyles were our favorites of the night.
Cassie
Cassie totally slayed the red carpet with her sculptural updo that came courtesy of hairstylist Dhairius Thomas.
Julia Fox
Julia Fox debuted newly gray hair that was styled in a slicked-back wet look. Her gray hair, which also perfectly matched her bleached brows, was a “love letter” to getting older.
Halle Bailey
Halle Bailey looked elegant as ever with her braids swept up in a dramatic high bun. This gorgeous look was styled by hairstylist Nai’vasha.
Janelle Monae
We are in awe of the uber-cool pouf that Nikki Nelms dreamed up for Janelle Monae. To complement Monae’s dramatic Thom Browne ensemble, she tied the base of the pouf with matching black thread.
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner looked stunning with her soft curls piled high on her head. Her look came courtesy of hairstylist Jesus Guerrero.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens wowed with pin-straight strands and a deep middle part that was styled by Danielle Priano.
Tinashe
Tinashe looked flawless as ever rocking soft multi-braids that came courtesy of hairstylist Karen Miller.
Amanda Seyfried
Amanda Seyfried was the epitome of glamour with her Old Hollywood waves that were styled by hairstylist Renato Campora.
Katie Holmes
For the big night, Katie Holmes opted for a slicked back twisted bun that was the work of hairstylist DJ Quintero.
Patti Wilson
Stylist and fashion consultant Patti Wilson hit red carpet sporting waist-grazing braided pigtails that were styled by hairstylist Nikki Nelms.
Christina Ricci
Christina Ricci stunned with a side part and tousled bob that came courtesy of hairstylist (and husband!) Mark Hampton.
Cher
We can’t get enough of these soft, loose waves that Cher wore on the red carpet.
Paloma Elsesser
Hairstylist Mideyah Parker totally understood the assignment when she styled this 90s-style prom updo for Paloma Elsesser.
Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer proved that a wavy ponytail can look seriously chic. Her hairstylist Ann Jones totally nailed this look.
Natasha Lyonne
Natasha Lyonne looked like such a rockstar with her flaming red locks that were styled in messy waves by hairstylist Lacy Redway.
