07/20/2021

This week’s guest on Volume Up by The Tease was Brendnetta Ashley. Brendnetta has 17 years of experience in the industry and is the Artistic Educator with the Salon by InStyle—-in JC Penny.

Hear about Brendnetta’s life growing up in a family of hairstylists and spending weekends at the salon folding towels. She explains how she got into the business although she was adamant that she would never go into the business. She also talks about how being an educator and competitions have relit her passion for hair.

Brendnetta gave her top skills to working in the business, especially what she learned from our mutual friend Miki Wright!

Don’t miss out on hearing about how patience, consistency and competition can keep an individual on the top of their game and successful!

“So there’s tons of different opportunities and avenues for you to go through that really helped to grow and develop you as a stylist. And I think that that was the main important thing for me, having the opportunity to grow and develop as a stylist.”

“So I pretty much grew up in the salon. After school, I would go to the salon. I would hang out in the salon on the weekend. And I always loved the energy in a salon”

“So the first thing I’ll say about competitions is it is not about winning. I think everyone gets so hooked on the thing of winning. And it is not about winning. For me, competitions are all about personal growth.”
