Schwarzkopf, an authority in hair for over 125 years, is proud to be the official Hair Brand of Disney’s “Freakier Friday,” which hits theaters on August 8th. To celebrate the collaboration, Schwarzkopf will spotlight the power of transformation with a multi-platform “Switch Your Story” campaign highlighting the special role hair color plays in telling consumer stories. Inspired by the film’s iconic theme of switching places and embracing change, the campaign invites consumers and professionals alike to explore how hair color and making the switch to Schwarzkopf hair color products can spark confidence, creativity, and self-expression. The campaign will run across paid media channels including connected TV and social platforms, with messaging tailored to both salon professionals and at-home users.

“Freakier Friday reminds us how powerful it can be to switch things up, and at Schwarzkopf, we believe that every hair color change marks the start of a new chapter in your story,” said Teresa Cordova, Head of Schwarzkopf Masterbrand U.S. She added, “as a brand trusted by both salon professionals and at-home users, we’re proud to create high-performance formulas that help people express who they are today and who they are becoming.”

In addition to its digital rollout, Schwarzkopf’s “Hairstream,” a beautifully branded mobile hair salon, was on-site at the film’s Los Angeles premiere, offering professional hair styling services including hair tinsel & hair charm applications. Premiere attendees were also be able to “switch their story” instantly using the mobile salon’s “Magic Mirror” — an augmented reality mirror that allows users to visualize what they would look like with different hair colors.

To continue the celebration, the Hairstream will also pop up in Los Angeles at Manhattan Village for a weekend consumer activation on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27 from 10am to 6pm. Fans can enjoy the same VIP Schwarzkopf styling experience offered at the premiere and share their hair stories.

The campaign celebrates Schwarzkopf’s world-class professional and at-home color products that are sold in over 140 countries. The brand will share professional salon formulas (like this one) and at-home box dye shade suggestions inspired by the film’s bold hair color looks — providing consumers with options for recreating similar shades in the salon or at home.

For professional colorists looking to recreate the film’s looks for their clients — Schwarzkopf is encouraging colorists to make the switch to its beloved IGORA Vibrance, a state-of-the-art demi permanent hair color with multi-tonal color results and beautiful vibrant shine. It’s the go-to for advanced color services including toning, glossing, root smudging, and grey blending.

Lindsay Lohan had her much-deserved movie star moment at the “Freakier Friday” premiere looking like an absolute Disney princess. And, yes, her “Soft Gloss Blonde,” created and maintained by Tracey CunninghamSchwarzkopf Professional’s U.S. Creative Director of Color & Technique, was on full display.

Worn down, and in a center part, Lohan’s hair was styled to perfection by long-time stylist Danielle Priano using a lineup of Schwarzkopf styling essentials. As the official hair brand of “Freakier Friday,” Schwarzkopf brought the star power both on and off screen. More on that later…

  1. Priano began by cleansing the hair with BLONDME Bond Repair Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner to hydrate, protect, and strengthen the hair — the perfect prep for styling and extension blending.
  2. Before blow-drying, she applied OSiS+ Upload Bodifying Cream at the roots for volume and lift. Then she applied the BLONDME Bond Repair Sealing Balm to the end for heat protection and a smooth, healthy finish.
  3. Next, Priano used Remi Cachet’s Clip In Deluxe 20” hair extensions for effortless length and volume.
  4. Once extensions were in place, Priano curled the hair and finished it off with a touch of OSiS+ Glow Anti-Frizz Serum to bring out a glossy, red-carpet-worthy shine.

Swedish supermodel Elsa Hosk took to the 77th Cannes Film Festival red carpet and served HAIR! Teaming up with celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano, Hosk gave us old school glamour via three different styles. Our favorite was a tousled look with effortless, loose waves, some texture, and major volume. So good, in fact, that we had to connect with Priano.

The key to all of that je ne sais quois? The Coveted Tape tape-in extensions by Covet and Mane. Priano generously shared how she pulled the look together with The Tease. Scroll for a step-by-step.

Get the Look:

  1. “To prep the hair, I applied volumizer at the roots while blow drying and smoothed the ends of the hair.
  2. Next, I sectioned the hair for The Coveted Tape application, beginning with the nape and working upwards. I left a half inch in between sections.
  3. Then, I cut four of The Coveted Tape weft from Covet & Mane into eight pieces, measured according to the size of each section to ensure a perfect fit.
  4. Once properly measured, I applied The Coveted Tape (in shade Bondi Blonde) pieces into each section for density and volume, finishing with two small pieces near the hair part for blending.
  5. After a quick and easy application, I trimmed the ends to create a chic lob length for this look.
  6. I then curled all of the ends of the hair, section by section, with a large barrel iron to create a bouncy blowout.
  7. To finish the look, I brushed and smoothed the hair into my desired shape and sprayed with a strong hold hair spray to set.”

The Coveted Tape is currently available by application for stylists in The Covet Collective and will be released to all licensed pros in late Spring 2024. Surprise, Vanessa Hudgens is going to be a mom! No surprise, she looked incredible on the 2024 Oscars red carpet thanks to Celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano. This half-up, half-down hairstyle, with serious length, is about to be the inspo for every baby shower this spring.

The Tease was fortunate enough to connect with Priano, who spilled exactly how she got the look for the mom-to-be using products from SexyHair, The Hair Shop, and Remington ONE styling tools. Of the look Priano shared, “For Vanessa at the Oscars today, we took a lot of inspiration from 90’s supermodels and added a modern twist. We wanted the look to have a nostalgic vibe.” Mission accomplished!

Keep scrolling for the complete step-by-step.

Get the Look:

  1. “We started by cleansing Vanessa’s hair using SexyHair Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner to ensure a clean, voluminous base. I initially towel-dried her hair gently and applied Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner, which doubles as a detangler, to prepare her hair for styling.
  2. I then applied SexyHair’s Volumizing Big Altitude Mousse to give the roots a lift and added the Shine Show Blow Out Spray for heat protection and additional shine. I used the Remington One Blow Dryer with a large round brush for a smooth blowout, ensuring the hair was completely dry and prepped for further styling.
  3. Next, I sectioned the hair and began adding The Hair Shop Pro 7 Clip-In Extensions 22” in 1B with a body wave from the nape upwards, stopping at the occipital bone. This technique added volume and length, creating an illusion of fuller hair.
  4. I applied Polished Up Pomade by SexyHair to smooth the hair and then pulled it into a chic half-up, half-down style, securing it with a ponytail holder. This step added a sophisticated, snatched, half-up vibe reminiscent of the ’90s supermodel era.
  5. I used the Remington One Curler to curl the hair and set the curls with rollers to cool and hold their shape, ensuring lasting volume and bounce. I then used SexyHair So Touchable Hairspray to lock in the curls while maintaining flexibility.
  6. I removed the rollers and gently brushed out the curls with a wide-tooth comb for a soft, flowing look.
  7. Lastly, I finished the hairstyle with SexyHair Spray and Play Harder (a firmer hairspray) for hold and SexyHair Smooth and Seal for an extra glossy finish, ensuring the hair looked stunning and stayed in place through the Oscars.”

Updos may be a red carpet staple at this point, but every now and then we come across one that totally stops us in our tracks. Take for example, the incredibly chic twisted bun that Rachel Brosnahan sported at the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Brosnahan, who was nominated for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, oozed glamour with this gorgeous updo that perfectly complemented her glimmering gold Tamara Ralph gown.

According to her hairstylist Danielle Priano, the vision was to craft a hairstyle that “radiated modern, effortless elegance.” She shared, “ Her dress was bold and dramatic—so we went with a soft and youthful updo to enhance the moment and keep things understated.”

The Tease was lucky enough to get Priano to spill the step-by-step details on how she created this stunning look using SexyHair products and Hidden Crown Hair extensions. Keep scrolling for her breakdown.

Get the Look

  1. Foundation: The journey began with a nourishing cleanse and hydration using the SexyHair Moisturizing Shampoo ($20.95) and Conditioner ($21.95). This initial step ensured Rachel’s hair was optimally prepped, adding essential moisture and a silky foundation.
  2. Prep: To protect and prep the hair for styling, Priano applied Shine Show Blowout Spray ($22.95) and then she used a hairdryer to blow out her hair.
  3. Texture: Priano used a 1-inch curling iron to create soft waves through her hair.
  4. Volume and Density: To amplify the up-do, Priano applied Hidden Crown Flip-Up Clip-In extensions ($159) through her hair to create volume and density.
  5. Sculpting the Updo: With the desired texture and volume in place, Priano gathered her hair into a high ponytail and secured it. She then applied SexyHair Not So Hard Up Gel ($21.95) to ensure a sleek and controlled base. From there, she took sections of hair and pinned them in a randomized way to create an up-do into a unique, twisted shape that was soft and sleek.
  6. Finishing Touches: To set the updo, Spray and Play Harder Hairspray ($22.95) was sprayed over to lock in the look for the evening.

The 2024 Golden Globes officially kicked off awards season on Sunday night, bringing together Hollywood’s biggest stars to celebrate the very best in film and television. This year’s ceremony was held in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Jo Koy.

The star-studded affair was full of memorable moments, most notably, some historic wins from a number of talented actors and actresses. Ali Wong and Steven Yeun won Best Actress and Best Actor in a Limited Series for their performances in Netflix’s Beef, becoming the first and second Asian American actors to, respectively, win in their categories. Also, Lily Gladstone became the first Indigenous woman to win Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for her performance in Killers of the Flower Moon.

Noteworthy achievements aside, this year’s Golden Globes also majorly delivered when it came to red carpet hair. Our favorite Hollywood stars and their glam teams served up an assortment of outstanding hair looks that we couldn’t help but obsess over. There were bobs in every form, balletcore buns and updos aplenty, and so many dainty hair bows and ribbons. Ahead, take a look at some of our favorite hairstyles from the 2024 Golden Globes.

Lily Gladstone

At last night’s Golden Globes, Lily Gladstone became the first Indigenous woman to win Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for Killers of the Flower Moon. For her history-making moment, hairstylist Marc Mena styled the perfect braided ballerina bun with loose, face-framing tendrils.

Erika Alexander

Erika Alexander looked regal as ever with her gorgeous braided crown. Her sculptural braided updo was styled by hairstylist Janet Michelle while her multicolored braids were the work of braider Debra Hare-Bey.

Jennifer Aniston

All eyes were on Jennifer Aniston and her much shorter ‘do at last night’s red carpet. With the help of her hairstylist Chris McMillan, the actress debuted a choppy, perfectly undone lob that was reminiscent of her forever iconic “Rachel” haircut from Friends.

Greta Lee

Greta Lee gave off major Old Hollywood vibes with her sculpted bob that was styled by hairstylist Jenny Cho using Olivia Garden tools.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone looked absolutely phenomenal with her sleek and modern architectural lob that was styled by hairstylist Mara Roszak using Roz Hair products.

Cailee Spaeny

We couldn’t get enough of Cailee Spaeny or her micro mini bob that came courtesy of hairstylist Kiley Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald created her elegant hair look using GHD hair tools and Kristin Ess hair products.

Gillian Anderson

Gillian Anderson wowed with a brushed-back blowout that was styled by hairstylist Ian James

Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish brought some edge to the red carpet with her grungy two-tone black and red spiked bun.  Her incredible color came courtesy of colorist Jess Gonzalez and her hair was styled by hairstylist Benjamin Mohapi.

Rachel Brosnahan

Rachel Brosnahan proved that the bow trend is here to stay with her ulta-long pony that was perfectly accessorized with a lengthy red bow. This ultra-feminine look was styled by hairstylist Danielle Priano using Sexy Hair products, Edree hair tools, and Bellami hair extensions.

Sheryl Lee Ralph

This curly, bouncy bob that hairstylist SherriAnn Cole styled for Sheryl Lee Ralph was everything and more—so beautiful!!

America Ferrera

This soft, tousled bob that hairstylist Aviva Jansen Perea styled for America Ferrera got a big thumbs up from us. Jansen Perea used Briogeo hair products to bring this hair look to life.

Meryl Streep

Meryl Streep served effortless glamour with her with her pulled-back ponytail and feathery, swooping bangs.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez proved bigger is always better with her extra voluminous curls that came courtesy of hairstylist Chris Appleton.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh without a doubt wins the award for coolest hair on the carpet with platinum blonde fauxhawk that was styled by hairstylist Adir Abergel.

Julia Schlaepfer

Julia Schalepfer looked flawless with her sleek twisted topknot that came courtesy of hairstylist Marcus Francis

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie channeled 1970s Superstar Barbie with a killer blowout styled by hairstylist Bryce Scarlett and fresh blond locks colored by colorist Jacob Schwartz.

Quinta Brunson

Quinta Brunson stunned with glossy cascading waves that were styled by hairstylist Alexander Armand using his own line, Flourish by Alexander Armand.

Natasha Lyonne

We’re obsessed with this curly tousled updo that hairstylist Vernon Francois created for Natasha Lyonne.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez went full balletcore with a sleek bun that was styled by hairstylist Marissa Marino using Dyson hair tools and Living Proof hair products.

Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks leaned fully into the wet-look hair trend with the help of her hairstylist Clayton Hawkins.

Hailee Steinfeld

This twisted bun updo and wispy tendrils combo that hairstylist Ricky Fraser styled for Hailee Steinfeld was a red carpet win in our books.

Hunter Schafer

Hunter Schafer looked breathtaking with this slicked-back chignon that hairstylist Lacy Redway created for her.

Rosamund Pike

Rosamund Pike turned heads with this sleek bun that was styled for her by hairstylist Davide Barbieri and perfectly accessorized with a black veiled Philip Treacy hat. According to Pike, the addition of the veil to her look was due to “smashing up” her face during a skiing accident over the holidays.

Janelle James

Hairstylist Weezy Did It totally slayed Janelle James’ middle-parted loose waves. Her look was styled using Cambodian Hair Extensions.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa set the red carpet on fire with her cherry cola-colored locks that were perfectly styled in soft waves. Her look came courtesy of hairstylist Peter Lux

Kate Beckinsale

We have major heart eyes for this polished bow adorned ponytail that hairstylist Scott King styled for Kate Beckinsale using UNITE Hair products.

Ariana Greenblatt

The 16-year old Barbie breakout star brought IDGAF energy to the red carpet with an impeccably-executed center-parted, piecey, texturized hairstyle thanks to hairstylist Glen Oropeza.

The annual Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards brought together some of the Fashion and Entertainment Industries’ brightest. Taking place at New York’s Museum of Natural History, celebs and their teams weren’t afraid to let hair have its shine, experimenting with shape, texture and length.

Scroll for some of our favorite celebrity ’23 CFDA red carpet hairstyles with accompanying step-by-steps from their actual hairstylists!

Dove Cameron

Singer Dove Cameron and her hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg went with an architectural Y2K ponytail to play off the vibe of her Coach dress for the CFDA awards. Dramatic tendrils, super slick and forever long, keep scrolling to see how Rozenberg brought the look together.

“For Dove’s ponytail I begin by matching extension color to hair. For Dove I used Hidden Crown Hair seamless clip ins in Dark Brown color # 2. I trimmed the clip-in extensions hair to match Dove’s length. Take a nice clean section, backcomb then add a little hairspray to have a good foundation for hair to sit and not move. One on the left side, one on the right side, one on the back and one underneath to create fullness. Then I gather all the hair to create Dove’s ponytail and finish styling.”

Kim Petras

German-born pop star Kim Petras was giving 90s glamour and volume thanks to hairstylist and Bumble and bumble aka Bb.Global Artistic Ambassador Evanie Frausto. Known to wear her blonde hair stick straight, Petras embraced softness and movement in her CFDA awards hairstyle. Luckily Frausto spilled exactly how to recreate it.

“First we applied Bb.Bond Building Repair Styling Cream onto damp hair and we blow dried that in with a smoothing flat brush. Then we sprayed the Bb.Heat Shield Thermal Protection Mist and flat ironed the root to give it an even smoother look. For the ends I used an inch and a quarter curling iron to give it a little bump and texture. I then sectioned the top half of her hair and using the Bb.Strong Finish spray I gathered the hair and locked it in with a 3 strand braid in the back. I finished using Bb.Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil  on my fingers to pull out little romantic wispy pieces.”

The Tease also heard from makeup artist Gilbert Soliz for MAC Cosmetics about Kim’s glam. Soliz created a soft and sultry smokey eye look using the M·A·C Connect In Colour Eye Shadow Palette: Unfiltered Nudes and topped it off with a nude lip combo using M·A·C Locked Kiss 24hr Lipstick in Teaser and M·A·C Lip Pencil in Stripdown

Lori Harvey

It girl Lori Harvey and Danielle Priano teamed up, creating an effortless-looking dual bun look with a modern twist.

“Starting with a horizontal split at the mid-point of the hair, we worked with the two sections to create interconnected buns. At the center of the upper section, we incorporated a two-clip hair extension to enhance length. We then twisted the hair into an inverted French twist, allowing some strands to fall loosely for a look that’s part ponytail, part twist. Similarly, for the lower section, a two-clip extension was attached in reverse. A second twist was then created, with loose strands at the bottom connecting it to the upper twist.”

Madelyn Cline

Actress Madelyn Cline may play the ingenue on screen but IRL she looked Old Hollywood thanks to Danielle Priano. The pair opted for a slick, wet bun accompanied by a deep side part for the CFDA awards. Extra drama secured thanks to Hidden Crown hair extensions.

“The hair was thoroughly dampened, parted deeply on one side, and then pulled back into a snug ponytail. Before forming the bun, we wound a four-clip hair extension around the ponytail to add both volume and length, wetting and gelling this as well. We twisted the moistened ponytail into a bun and secured it with pins. A final touch of shine spray added a radiant finish to the look.”

Vanessa Hudgens

Actress Vanessa Hudgens and hairstylist Danielle Priano created a hairstyle for the CFDA awards that was designed to be sleek and timeless. Opting for a chic AF chignon, Priano ensured the look was anything but boring thanks to major volume care of Hidden Crown hair extensions.

“We placed two two-clip extensions at the crown and another pair just above the nape to build volume. Gathering all the hair, we fashioned a sleek ponytail without any parting, to maintain the smooth silhouette. After straightening the ponytail, we added a small, doughnut-shaped sponge at its base to aid in creating a flawlessly coiled low bun. This hairstyle complemented the statement-making dress, ensuring a sophisticated and polished ensemble.”

If you recreate any of these styles for yourself or for a client, we want to see it! Don’t be shy, tag The Tease on Instagram and TikTok.

By now we all know that the holiday season doesn’t start until the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey, says so.

Keeping with tradition, the pop diva officially ringed in the most wonderful time of the year with her annual “It’s Time” Christmas announcement video, which was released at midnight on Nov. 1. And this time around, Carey fully leaned into embracing all of those defrosting memes that circulate the Internet every November.

In the festive clip, the mega superstar can literally be seen defrosting from a massive block of ice by a group of masked figures in Halloween costumes using an assortment of hair dryers—including the Dyson Supersonic. After thawing out from the ice, Carey belts out, “It’s time!” in her signature whistle tone, before her iconic holiday hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” kicks in.

Along with getting us all excited for the festive season, or Mariah SZN, as she likes to call it, Carey also served up stellar holiday hair inspo in the video. Celebrity hairstylist Danielle Priano made sure that the singer decked the hall in style with gorgeous voluminous ringlets

The Tease was lucky enough to get Priano to share step-by-step details on how she achieved Carey’s flawless curls using the Dyson Supersonic and Airwrap. Keep scrolling her complete styling breakdown.

Get the Look:

  1. To achieve Mariah’s look, you’ll want to start with clean and damp hair.
  2. When prepping the hair, apply a heat protectant and mousse to damp the hair. According to Priano, “These products not only help protect the hair from heat damage, but also enhance a great wave pattern.”
  3. Next, use the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer Professional Edition with the professional concentrator attachment to roughly dry the hair 70%. Priano suggests focusing on getting as much moisture out as you can without fully styling yet.
  4. You’ll then want to section the hair, dividing it into manageable sections. You can use clips to keep sections separated.
  5. To get Mariah’s curls, use the Dyson Airwrap multi styler. According to Priano, a huge tip for this next step is choosing the right barrel. “You’ll want to select the barrel size on the Airwrap that matches the wave size you desire,” she says. “Mariah’s waves are often large and voluminous, so I tend to use the larger barrel. In this case, I used the 1.2 inch Airwrap long barrel.”
  6. Next, begin wrapping the hair by taking hold of each section and wrapping it around the chosen barrel on the Airwrap for approximately 10-15 seconds. Then cold shot for 5-10 seconds, release and let set, and don’t brush out the curl yet!
  7. Continue the process with each section of the hair and make sure to alternate the direction of the curls on each section as this will create a more natural and voluminous look (i.e. some of the curls towards the face and some away).
  8. Then, gently run your fingers or a wide-tooth comb through the hair to loosen the curls into voluptuous waves. “I recommend avoiding using a brush as this can make the hair too fluffy,” Priano says.
  9. The final step is to apply a light hairspray or styling spray to really hold the waves. “I also like to add a bit of hair oil or serum to only the ends of the hair for an added shine,” Priano says. If you’re wanting more volume at the roots like Mariah, you can gently tease the hair at the crown or apply a volumizing product at the root. “The key to achieving Mariah Carey’s waves is volume smoothness, and a touch of glamour,” she explains. “Everyone’s hair is different, so it’s always recommended you adjust the technique to your hair type and length.”

You’ve no doubt heard the saying, “It’s what on the inside that counts.” While these words may be a cliche, they absolutely ring true for beauty. That’s why SexyHair is making a point to prioritize inner beauty and will be partnering with Mental Health America (MHA) for a new campaign called Beauty Starts Within.

SexyHair brought together five stylists to speak candidly about mental health as it pertains to their careers. These conversations— ranging from self-care tips, to how to set boundaries, to when to seek help— gave life to the Beauty Starts Within campaign. Stylists featured (from left to right): Sabrina Porsche, Raquel Silva, Jon Carlos De La Cruz, Chaie de Jesus, and Laura Polko. Image courtesy: SexyHair

Through this campaign, SexyHair aims to empower stylists and individuals to nurture their mental health by providing education, resources, and support. The professional haircare brand will also be calling attention to the vital role hairstylists’ play for their clients and even recognized a few of them on National Hairstylist Mental Health Awareness Day, which falls on May 27.

As nearly half of Americans meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition sometime in their life, it’s important to address mental health and wellness. In an effort to increase awareness surrounding mental health, Sexy Hair will be offering many tools through their Beauty Starts Within partnership, including a mental health screening test, a guide on how to build a coping toolkit, ways to recognize warning signs, stylist-specific wellness resources, and much more. All of these educational resources will be provided from Mental Health America and will live on the SexyHair website. Additionally, SexyHair will be unveiling a social media campaign that will include wellness collaborations and creative content to make sources easily accessible and simple to digest.

Stylists will be able to access all of these amazing resources when the partnership officially kicks off later this year with the launch of the Beauty Starts Within resource hub. As this partnership is a significant step forward in promoting mental wellness, SexyHair has plans for it to continue to grow and develop in 2024 and beyond.

In the spirit of this exciting partnership, a few of our favorite celebrity hairstylists have shared tips on how they take care of their mental health. Keep scrolling to hear what they have to say.

Graham Nation, (@grahamnation)

“For me, mental wellness can be as simple as not endlessly scrolling on TikTok, or saying ‘no’ to extra activities and spending more energy on myself. After exercising daily, I meditate for 15 minutes followed by visualization for 10 minutes then I’ll write some goals in a journal after.”

Clayton Hawkins, (@claytonhawkins)

“I’m in therapy and a huge advocate for that! Find your tribe or a professional that you can talk to. Being active and getting physical exercise every day really clears my mind and helps me with my mental health.”

Danielle Priano, (@daniellepriano)

“I do therapy and I also have a healer. I maintain a healthy lifestyle and work out nearly every day. I also laugh a lot and make sure I wake up every morning being positive and grateful.”
