The Best Hairstyles from the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards

05/17/2021

When it comes to award shows, the MTV Movie & TV Awards always seems to have one of the year’s most playful red carpets. And that was certainly the case last night when a handful of our favorite stars gathered in Hollywood to honor the fan-favorite film and TV series of this past year.

The ceremony was hosted by SNL alum Leslie Jones who delivered a hilarious WandaVision parody and an equally funny opening monologue. On-screen favorites took home the golden popcorn including the late Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Rege-Jean Page for Bridgerton, and Elizabeth Olsen for WandaVison.

Awards aside, we couldn’t help but be mesmerized by all the show-stopping hairstyles that made an appearance. From textured waves to bold statement braids and elegant updos, stars and their glam teams welcomed the opportunity to dazzle us all with their red carpet hair.

Here, see all the best hair looks from the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Kathryn Hahn

Kathryn Hahn served up major cool-girl vibes with these messy waves that came courtesy of hairstylist Marilee.

Jurnee Smollett

Jurnee Smollett set the red carpet on fire with this short wavy bob styled by hairstylist Kiyah Wright.

Taylour Paige

Taylour Paige looked very chic sporting a sleek shoulder-length bob styled by hairstylist Alexander Armand.

Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore looked super regal with her low twisted bun styled by hairstylist Ashley Streicher. Speaking on the inspiration for Moore’s hair, Streicher shared, “To play off of Mandy’s unique marigold yellow, draped textured dress, I wanted to give her an elevated look a sleek, modern chignon that showed off her beautiful face.”

To create Moore’s bun, the hairstylist prepped the star’s hair with Garnier Fructis products, brushing through with an Olivia Garden EcoHair Eco-Friendly Bamboo Detangler. She then blew out the hair with Olivia Garden EcoHair Eco-Friendly Bamboo Paddle Brush. Next, she created a center part using Olivia Garden CarboSilk Comb, using the Olivia Garden Ceramic +Ion Flat Iron to keep flyaways down. Aftering gathering the hair in a bun, Streicher used the Olivia Garden Style-Up Combo Teasing Brush paired with Garnier hairspray to add additional volume.

Riley Keough

Riley Keough wowed us all with her middle part and braided pony styled by hairstylist Gregory Russell.

Yara Shahidi

We have major heart eyes over these twisted pigtails and halo braids that hairstylist SherriAnn Cole-Robertson dreamed up for Yara Shahidi. How pretty do those curled face framing tendrils look with this ‘do?

Addison Rae

Addison Rae’s risque outfit didn’t just turn heads, so did her hair. The TikTok star stunned with loose, beachy waves that came courtesy of hairstylist Jenny Cho.

Madison Bailey

Outer Banks star Madison Bailey served up two of our favorite things on the red carpet: swirly baby hairs and a statement pony. Her hairstylist Sienree totally slayed this look!

Lana Condor

Lana Condor brought major glam to the red carpet with a slicked back half-up, half-down hairstyle by hairstylist Kat Thompson.

Madelyn Cline

Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline looked super fierce rocking sleek straightened hair by hairstylist Ted Gibson

Elizabeth Olsen

Elizabeth Olsen looked gorgeous as ever sporting new brunette locks and freshly cut curtain bangs that came courtesy of hairstylist Mark Townsend. We’re living for that beautifully done topknot!
