The Salon Professional Industry’s most prestigious competition is finally accepting entries! The 2021 North American Hairstyling Awards, or NAHA, will take place early next year and honors the top beauty professionals in the industry. Because this year looks a bit different, the PBA has decided to implement an extended entry deadline. Entries opened on June 11th and will end on October 2nd.
Here’s what else you can expect at NAHA 2021.
New Categories
During last year’s ceremony, the PBA announced two new categories: Inspiring Salon of the Year and Educator of the Year. The award for Inspiring Salon of the Year honors salon culture, whether it’s the environment or how the salon connects to the community. The Educator of the Year award recognizes those who significantly influence industry professionals, and lead and teach them to be their best.
Along with adding new categories, the PBA has also eliminated three categories: Nail, Newcomer and Salon Design.
New Rules
You can now enter the same work into multiple competitions! This year, a collection may be published prior to entry and can be submitted to other regional, national or international competitions. Additionally, the Editorial Stylist of the Year category will accept editorial work published from September 1st, 2019 through September 1st, 2020. For more info, click here.
Creative Conversations
To help spark creativity for stylists, the PBA has introduced a new series for navigating this new territory. For the series, industry icons join Michael Shaun Corby on Instagram to help guide hairdressers through creating and submitting a winning collection. Conversations can be found on the PBA’s account.
