Every curl has a story, and Black-ish’s Tracee Ellis Ross is finally sharing hers. The Golden Globe-nominated actress strugged for years to find products that worked for her (iconic) natural hair before creating a haircare line of her own. After a lengthy 10 years in development, Pattern Beauty finally launched in September 2019.
Pattern Beauty offers hydrating shampoo, 3 different types of conditioner, 2 hair serums and more to meet the beauty needs of those with naturally curly, coily and tight textured hair. The line supports types between 3B (springy ringlets with the circumference of a straw) and 4C (tightly coiled and more densely packed).
Pattern promises to empower curls, nourish hair with effective ingredients and keep hair “juicy and joyful.” And the brand delivers! The shampoo is cleansing and gentle. The conditioners are hydrating and don’t leave behind residue. The serums lock in moisture, and they smell great.
Buying Pattern products helps pay it forward, too. The brand partners with the African American Policy Forum, a social justice organization near to Ellis Ross, that focuses on issues of gender and diversity. Profits go toward quarterly donations.
