MAC Cosmetics Names Nicola Formichetti as Global Creative Director

MAC Cosmetics just announced the appointment of their new Global Creative Director, Nicola Formichetti, who is known for his genre-defying work, creative leadership, and trend-setting collaborations. 

Formichetti has worked with many influential fashion houses as well as with celebrities, including Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, and Gwen Stefani. With his work, he often draws inspiration from his own Japanese and Italian heritage. Thanks to his experience and diverse viewpoint, Formichetti offers a globally attuned perspective that deeply resonates with MAC’s mission to be a brand for “All Ages, All Races, All Genders.”

According to the brand, Formichetti will lead MAC’s global creative direction in his new role, reimagining everything from campaigns and social content to product design, packaging, and immersive retail experiences. 

MaC shared in a press release that Formichetti’s “forward-thinking approach blends culture, technology, and artistry in ways that feel fresh and inclusive, setting the stage for a new era of innovation and self-expression at MAC.” 

In a social media post, Formichetti said that beauty has always been a big part of his creative journey and MAC has always played a key role. He added that “starting with our early campaign work, the incredible VIVA GLAM initiative, and later launching my own Nicopanda beauty collection, MAC has always given me and our community a space to explore , take risks and play. Now I get to bring everything I’ve learned into something truly exciting.”
