Andis Company is leaning fully into nostalgia with the latest addition to its Creator Series

The beloved barbering recently introduced its Retro Revival collection with International Artistic Lead Kevin Luchmun at BarberCon in Dallas, Texas to much fanfare. Consisting of six unique cuts, this collection not only features styles that are modeled on multiple genders, but also spotlights several hair textures and popping colors.

To craft these styles, Luchmun utilized the Andis professional tool line, specifically the reSURGE Shaver and the reVITE Clipper. His looks, which took 6 months of planning, showcase both his incredible skills as well as the elite-level performance of Andis products.

For Luchmun, creating this collection was an opportunity to drive innovation in the styling sphere and demonstrate the versatility of Andis’ cordless lineup of clippers, trimmers, shavers, and accessories.

“My goal here was to take the inspiration that’s constantly available to us from fashion to social media, to our day-to-day lives and to create a collection that would totally cut through that noise,” said Luchmun. “But, rather than building on contemporary trends, it was my intention to reinvent retro and older styles from the ground up. With the help of my incredible creative team and my Andis partnership, I feel that this collection is the start of a complete reset for my own work and the barbering industry as a whole.

Working as both a barber and a creative director, Luchmun collaborated closely with a team of stylists to craft clothing profiles that were able to complement the hair as much as the hair complemented the clothes. Directing his videography team with incredible precision, each angle of the looks have been artfully captured in exceptional detail. In combination with Luchmun’s own photography, this collection sets a new standard for barbering innovation.

This new collection features six Retro Revival looks that were built to highlight the texture and color of each model’s hair, creating custom but easily replicable styles. These looks include:

Sculpted Tapered Afro

Combining the natural volume and texture of an afro with a precise and gradual taper on the sides and back, the hair for this style is carefully shaped and sculpted to maintain a rounded silhouette. Its low taper provides a clean and polished look, creating a harmonious balance between the shape’s fullness and the well-defined lines of a taper, which results in a stylish and sophisticated look.

Wave Fusion Mullet

A modern mullet hairstyle with blond hair that’s styled with its natural wavy texture and enhanced by a taper fade on the sides. This trendy and versatile look has the retro appeal of the mullet but with a contemporary twist.

Sharp Edge Undercut Bob

Combining the sleekness of a classic bob with a bold twist, this edgy and modern look consists of a precision bob hairstyle with an undercut at the back. The precision bob frames the face with clean lines and a sharply defined fringe. At the back, the undercut is incorporated to remove weight and create movement through the shape.

Tender Flow Mullet

This soft, textured mullet gives a gentler look by maintaining lengths while still removing weight around the parietal ridge. The underneath  is connected to the top with soft waves and natural texture.

90s Retro Rise

This high-top  hairstyle with a tapered fade pays homage to the iconic trends of the ‘90s. It features a voluminous and structured high top, reminiscent of bold and gravity-defying vintage styles, embracing nostalgia while maintaining a fresh and fashionable aesthetic.

Rugged Edge

This rugged edge style combines elements of shorter internal lengths with textured layers and longer fringe for added flair. Using clippers to create texture through slide cutting, the layers play a significant role in adding dimension and movement to the style.

Congratulations are in order for Kevin Luchmun and Kenny Duncan! The two barbering icons have been tapped to lead Andis Company’s newly created Global Artistic Team. For his part, Luchmun will be responsible for guiding the brand’s efforts abroad as the “International Artistic Team Lead,” while Duncan, who currently serves as Andis’ U.S. Lead Educator, will lead the brand’s efforts in the U.S. and Canada as the new “North American Artistic Team Lead.”

According to a press release, these new roles will work to accelerate Andis’ presence on an international scale by building on it’s global reputation for world-class tools, education, and creative inspiration. As members of the brand’s Global Artistic Team, both Luchmun and Duncan will be instrumental in the development of educational programs for barbers and stylists as well as providing artistic direction for creative projects. Not to mention, both pros will play a critical role in the formation of a new wing of programs designed to nurture the creative talents of Andis’ creators.

Given the extensive experience and expertise that both Luchmun and Duncan bring to these roles, there’s no doubt that brand is in good hands.

Andis International Artistic Team Lead, Kevin Luchmun

Considered one of the UK’s most respected men’s stylists, Luchmun’s remarkable technical hair cutting skills has positioned him one of the most inspiring barbers, educators, and men’s stylists in the industry. Bringing an immense passion for photography as well as hairstyling, his work has been seen across social media, on the runway, and on the covers and in the pages of numerous international trade and consumer magazines.

For Luchmun, joining the Andis family is a dream come true as he’s always had deep rooted respect for the brand and a desire to work with them.

“Very early in my career I got the opportunity to work on the Andis stage at Salon International. From that moment I was passionate about Andis and I was always intent on working with the brand. For me there was never an alternative to Andis; I’ve waited a long time for this to come to fruition,” said Luchmun. “Now I’ve reached this point in my career and have so many achievements and accolades, the timing and the type of position couldn’t be more perfect. I look forward to working with Angie and the global education team to elevate Andis’ brand appeal and educational resource base, as well as highlighting the precision and performance of its industry-leading tools.”

Kevin will be working closely with Kenny Duncan, to merge our educator network into a global vision that empowers barbers and stylists to express their individuality, maximize their creative talents and exceed their artistic potential through hair and imagery.”

Andis North American Artistic Team Lead Kenny Duncan

Working alongside Luchmun is Duncan, who is no stranger to the Andis brand given his past as Lead Educator. But education side, the stylist is just as well known for his work styling notable figures such as Michael B. Jordan and Philadelphia 76ers Ben Simmons.

“Kenny has been a crucial member of the Andis Education Team for many years, we are very proud to see him elevated to a role that allows him to express his endless creative visions,” said Perino. “Kenny will be serving the U.S. and Canada as a lead contributor for creative projects including photo shoots and various education programs. Kenny also leads our Global Virtual Competition Program that connects our barbers and stylists in a friendly duel to earn the title of Andis Master right from the comfort of their home, shop, or salon.”
