Actress and comedian Ali Wong could not be missed at the Grammys. Yes, thanks to signature glasses, but mostly her hair. Celebrity hairstylist Clayton Hawkins turned the volume way, way up using Donna Bella hair extensions and Marc Anthony True Professional’s Grow Long Anti-Frizz Shield Ultimate Blowout Spray and Big Volume Weightless Lift Root Boost.
Hawkins says, “For Ali Wong’s Grammys look, we wanted to pay homage to Valley of the Dolls and do a full 1960s inspired half up moment!” Naturally, that meant, BIG hair. The biggest.
Scroll for a breakdown.
Get the Look:
- Hawkins started off by applying Marc Anthony True Professional’s Big Volume Weightless Lift Root Boost and Grow Long Anti-Frizz Shield Ultimate Blowout to her damp locks and blowing her out. Then using a hair bungee, he snatched her into a tight half ponytail.
- Hawkins then created hair padding out of a cut up “hair donut” and secured it at the crown. He applied a full set of Donna Bella clip ins in color 1 over the donut to create tons of jaw-dropping volume and height. Wong’s hair is naturally long and full, but he wanted this “hair to be on steroids.”
- He then used the Marc Anthony True Professional Style Flex 2-in-1 Adjustable Hairspray and teased her ponytail within an inch of its life. Then using a mason Pearson, he smoothed out the entire thing. The final result is “1960s eleganza.”
