Ulla Johnson SS26 Lead Stylist Diego Da Silva Breaks Down the Runway Hairstyling Essentials

09/16/2025

Wella Professionals partnered with Ulla Johnson for her SS26 New York Fashion Week show and the hair was stunning! Editorial Hairstylist Diego da Silva was the lead stylist, emphasizing each model’s natural texture but making sure everything was healthy and nourished.

Da Silva says, “each model had a custom look, we really wanted to keep their natural texture. If someone had straight hair, we kept it straight. If they had waves or curls, we worked with that.” He adds, “The effortless look fits with the collection because Ulla’s designs are always soft and flawless, and the hair needed to carry that same feeling.”

As far as specific products used, Da Silva tells us he used “Wella Professionals EIMI Sugar Lift spray, sometimes just with water.” He continues, “For some girls, we added the Wella Professionals EIMI Boost Extra Volume mousse or Wella Professionals EIMI Just Brilliant shine pomade, especially if we had them with braids, which Ulla loves to include a couple to give them a bit more of a refined look for the girls wearing looks with more detail around the neck.”

Scroll for a detailed breakdown to get the ss26 runway look.

Get the Look:

  1. Apply Wella Professionals EIMI Sugar Lift spray to damp hair to build soft volume and enhance natural texture.
  2. For added definition, use Wella Professionals EIMI Extra Volume mousse on select models.
  3. Use a diffuser to gently dry the hair while maintaining its natural shape. For models with waves and curls, secure curls with hair pins to help hold their form. Make sure the hair is fully dry before removing the pins.
  4. On some models, we created two pigtail braids tied into a knot at the back of the head to echo the collection’s soft, handcrafted details — especially for looks with intricate necklines. If braids were part of the look, we applied Wella Professionals EIMI Just Brilliant shine pomade to help shape and secure them.
