Ultra-sleek and structured hair looks will do it for us every time on a red carpet—and Miley Cyrus’ latest hairstyle proves why.
The singer attended the 2025 Met Gala wearing a custom tailored Alaïa combo that consisted of a black leather top and a figure-hugging black skirt. Her look was a perfect execution of the night’s dress code, “Tailored For You,” as was her slicked-back braided ponytail.
According to the mastermind behind Cyrus’ hair, celebrity hairstylist Bob Recine, the goal was to keep her hair looking “simple and extremely couture.” To create her polished braid, Recine used Great Lengths new Essenza and Aria Tape-In Extensions.
Ahead, he shares the full breakdown of how he created Cyrus’ incredible braid for the 2025 Met Gala.

- To start, Recine prepped the hair to achieve a very shiny look with a glassy finish.
- Next, he color matched her hair with the Great Lengths Essenza and Aria Tape-In Extensions, perfectly matching her custom caramel gold color to seamlessly blend the extensions in with her hair to add a little more thickness and a bit more length to the strands.
- He began applying the Great Lengths Essenza and Aria Tape-In Extensions around the area of the crown for fullness.
- He then swept the hair into a high ponytail, pulling the hair together upwards just past her ear going towards the back of her crown.
- Once the ponytail was secured, Recine used another weft of the extensions to wrap around the base of the ponytail to hide the elastic.
- He then created a three-piece braid, seamlessly blending in various colors of the Great Lengths extensions throughout to match her natural color.
