Minimalism met sculpture on the TWP SS27 runway at NYFW, and the hair had a serious art-history moment to match. Award-winning beauty tech brand, Laifen, teamed up with Oribe and celebrity hair stylist Joey George to create the show’s hero hairstyle — a restrained, low-slung look with an unexpected bronze twist, titled “The Fold.”
“I was inspired by the artist and painter Georgia O’Keefe. The hair reflects Georgia’s minimalist style and is created to be undone, restrained, yet sculptural. This hairstyle I’ve named ‘The Fold’… The idea was to have the hair restrained in a state of collapsed form. The TWP collection noted western wear in their design elements which complements the Georgia-inspired look,” George shares.

Get the Look:
- Cleanse hair with Oribe Hair Alchemy Resilience Shampoo and Conditioner, then towel-squeeze to remove excess water.
- Apply the Oribe Hair Alchemy Bond Building Elixir leave-in treatment throughout the mid-lengths.
- Prime and detangle using Oribe Run Through Detangling Primer, then section with a wide-tooth comb.
- Diffuse hair dry using the Laifen Swift 4 hair dryer, which quickly dries the hair while holding natural waves in place, using only hands to encourage a natural, stretched texture. George also called out the dryer’s quiet operation and its Nourishing Mode, which infuses oil into the hair while drying to keep it moisturized and protected.
- Gather the hair into a low ponytail with the ends flipped up and under, then secure with the bronze bar hair accessory in place of a conventional ponytail cord or French twist.
- Slightly deconstruct the lengths and finish with a lightweight veil of Oribe Free-Styler Hair Spray.
“There is a bronze hair accessory clip that reflects the ones used by Georgia, instead of a conventional ponytail cord or french twist, that is used to fold and secure the end of the hair,” George explains.
